Breast Reduction

The right procedure will be tailored according to your dimensions and expectations of the size and contour with minimal scarring

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast tissue and reshapes the breasts to achieve a more proportional contour. This procedure is tailored to individual needs, considering factors such as breast size, shape, and overall balance.

For some individuals, reducing breast size may help alleviate discomfort such as back, shoulder, and neck strain, while also allowing for greater ease in daily physical activities. A personalised approach ensures the best possible outcome with well-planned incisions to minimise visible scarring.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes between 2.5 to 3.5 hours. An overnight hospital stay is often recommended. Following surgery, a supportive surgical garment or sports bra is worn to aid in recovery.

Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality care, from comprehensive preoperative consultations to attentive post-operative support, ensuring a professional and patient-centred experience.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks, and results vary between individuals. It is important to consider all options carefully and seek professional medical advice before proceeding.

General risks & complications that are common to all procedures can be foundĀ here.

Specific risks and complications of a breast reduction may include:

  • Skin changes, including discolouration, permanent pigmentation shifts, swelling, and bruising.
  • Damage to deeper structures, such as nerves, blood vessels, muscles, or lungs, which may be temporary or permanent.
  • Fat necrosis, where fatty tissue under the skin dies, potentially forming hard lumps.
  • Changes in breast or nipple sensation, which may be temporary or permanent.
  • Numbness in certain areas, can either resolve over time or be long-lasting.
  • Breast asymmetry, where the breasts may not appear even.
  • Partial or complete loss of the nipple or areola, though this is uncommon.
  • The possibility of additional surgery, to address complications.
