Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty aims to reshape the nose appearance and the balance with the face

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to refine the shape and proportions of the nose in relation to facial features. In some cases, the procedure can also address functional concerns, such as breathing difficulties. Techniques may involve precise cartilage reshaping, structural adjustments, or minor modifications to bone and soft tissue to achieve the desired outcome.

The procedure can be performed using either an open or closed approach, depending on the specific goals of treatment. This will be discussed in detail during consultation.

Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes between 2 to 3 hours. Following surgery, a protective splint may be applied, and in some cases, internal nasal packing may be used. Most individuals can return to work within two weeks, with recovery progressing gradually over the following months.

Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality care, offering comprehensive preoperative consultations and attentive post-operative support to ensure a professional and patient-centred experience.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks, and results vary between individuals. It is important to consider all options carefully and seek professional medical advice before proceeding.

General risks & complications that are common to all procedures can be found here.

Specific risks and complications of a rhinoplasty may include:

  • Severe or persistent pain, after the procedure.
  • Numbness or altered sensation, in the nose after bruising and swelling subside.
  • Temporary numbness, in the upper front teeth.
  • Dissatisfaction with the appearance, of the nose, which may require revision surgery.
  • Changes in the sense of smell, may be impaired, distorted, or, in rare cases, permanently lost.
  • Prolonged swelling, where the nose may remain slightly swollen for several months.
  • Darkened skin under the eyes, which may last longer than six months.
  • Weakening of the nasal support structure, potentially leading to a flattened appearance.
  • Implant complications, where an inserted implant may shift, protrude into the nasal cavity or break through the skin.
  • Breathing difficulties, caused by narrowing of the nasal airways.
